Handle objects and discover the stories of soldiers in the Roman Army in York between the 1st and late 4th centuries. The collection includes objects relating to military equipment, dress, housing, entertainment and superstition, and is very much the story of the soldiers rather than the civilians of York. Although civilians probably outnumbered soldiers, it was the Army which was responsible for founding and building the fortress at Eboracum and inhabiting it for over 300 years.
