Department life

Based around the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, the Department of Music features a friendly and welcoming community. When you arrive, new undergraduates are given 'Music Parents' – these second and third year students are around to help new students settle in and to help with any problems.

Teaching takes place in mixed year groups, fostering close relationships and encouraging teamwork and co-operation throughout the department. This collegiate atmosphere provides a fertile environment for creativity of all kinds – whether you want to form a string quartet or find a performer for a piece you're working on, you're bound to find enthusiastic collaborators from within our friendly and supportive community.
