Ethnically minoritised author showcase space

This collection was created to showcase and celebrate the works of ethnically minoritised authors. Every book has been personally recommended by our students and staff.

How to access the collection
The collection is housed in the Fairhurst Library in room LFA/201, on Floor 2. You're welcome to read the books in the room or borrow them using the Self-Issue Machines in the Morrell.

About the collection

This collection was created in 2025, and was suggested by Raj Mann as a way to celebrate ethnically minoritised authors and make the library a more inclusive environment. It began with the purchase of around 500 books, and rather than selection being driven by the library each item was a recommendation from students or staff at the University.

This is a growing collection which will expand over time: you can recommend purchases via the Google form below, which is reviewed by library staff a couple of times a year.

To ensure these books remain accessible throughout the library, we purchased dedicated copies specifically for this room rather than moving existing stock. So feel free to suggest books we already stock elsewhere in the Library, if you'd like to see them in the showcase space.
