Managed Apple iPads

Apple iPads, a type of tablet computer, can be used to access apps and online content.

Managed iPads, supported by IT Services, are available for request. You can request an iPad for your individual use or for shared use within your department (with prior approval from IT Services). Support for shared iPads is limited, so please consult with IT Services before purchasing any equipment to ensure your needs can be met.

  • Set up with security measures and can be remote locked by IT Services if lost or stolen.
  • Purchases can be made using a department budget from the University’s approved supplier.

Access instructions

iPads are available via request:

  • For individual use by a single member of staff, complete the end-to-end order form (providing a workorder) and IT Services will order the device for you. Alternatively, you can ask your department YEP Administrator to order the device for you via the York E-Purchasing System.
  • For a shared iPad, please discuss your needs with IT Services first (mark your query for the attention of the DPS Team).

Available to students and staff (restrictions apply)

Subject to approval. Student requests are limited and can only be requested to support exams, via a student support arrangement.

Funded by departments

Departments fund this service, subject to approval. There isn’t a cost to you for standard use.
