ABBYY FineReader

ABBYY FineReader is a piece of software used to edit PDFs. 

Key features

  • Add and remove sections and change the reading order for use with screen readers.
  • Compile PDF files and convert them to other formats.
  • Use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to convert image documents (photos, scans, PDF files) into electronic formats which can then be edited.
  • Redact PDF documents.
Available to staff and students

You can use this service on University-managed devices. You can also use it on personal devices via the virtual desktop service (VDS)

Compatible with Windows.

  • This is a live service, available 24/7.

Support

  • This service is managed by a third party.
  • They are responsible for monitoring, identifying and fixing faults. We provide advice and support for local issues during our opening hours.

Support is available via the ABBYY Help Center (abbyy.com). 

Standards

  • Our service performance and standards have been produced in consultation with our customers. We regularly monitor the delivery, performance and availability of facilities and services.
