“I chose the University of York because the university is passionate about outstanding projects with real-world impact. I currently work with Professor Alister G. Burr and Dr Kanapathippillai Cumanan.

I believe the favourite part of research is exploration. I have discovered a number of research areas I find very exciting. As a part of “Inclusive Radio Communication Networks for 5G and beyond (IRACON)” group, I have recently presented two workshops including: “Simplified User Selection for Large MIMO Systems,’’ Festival of Radio Science, Dec. 2016, and  “On the Scheduling for Large MIMO Systems with COST 2100 Channel Model,’’ Workshop on Radio Propagation and Technologies for 5G, Oct. 2016.

Moreover, as an interesting part of my research, I have the honour of working with Dr Cumanan. I have learned a lot from our day-to-day conversations and debates about the topics related to convex optimization.

Just a piece of advice; try to make a support network and choose the topics which challenge you! The PhD programme is a road to refine your skills and give a direction to your research career.

I am confident that studying at the University of York is a good chance for me to obtain a great research experience and become eventually a researcher in the area of communications, and accomplish my ultimate goal which is to come up with innovative ideas. I would like to share my knowledge with others as a professor while continuing my research in a university environment.”
