PhD projects
We work with a number of PhD students as part of the Programme.
We currently have one project available.
Dynamic assurance for resilient autonomous systems
Competition funded PhD project (students worldwide)
- Supervisors: Professor R Calinescu and Dr I Habli
- Deadline for applications: Friday 22 April 2022
This PhD will contribute to the Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Resilience Node's research, which is focused on the resilience of autonomous systems.
An important aspect of resilience is to provide guarantees that autonomous systems can and will achieve their goals despite the uncertainty and disruption encountered in real-world environments. This exciting PhD studentship opportunity will contribute to the Resilience Node’s research by exploring the dynamic generation of evidence for the resilience of the autonomous system, from the verification and validation activities performed both during the development of the system and also during its operation. This will help ensure that the assurance case for the system remains valid, even under conditions of operational uncertainty and change.
The PhD student will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with project team members from the disciplines of computer science, engineering, psychology and mathematics, and with autonomous systems stakeholders ranging from developers and operators to regulators and end-users.
