Centres and facilities

The Department of Archaeology hosts ten distinct centres and facilities which offer unique opportunities for our staff and students. Centres such as the YEAR Centre, BioArCh, Digital Archaeology and Heritage Lab and PalaeoHub offer bespoke physical spaces to undertake research and teaching.

Other centres, such as the Centre for Digital Heritage, Centre for Applied Heritage Studies, Centre for Conservation Studies and Palaeo, provide research groupings which promote the Department's ambitions to produce world-leading research.

Each of our centres and facilities promotes research and collaboration across the university, drawing in departments from all three faculties, and beyond with key partners around the globe.

The Archaeology Data Service is a world-leading accredited digital repository for heritage data. Its research into digital preservation and access has put the UK at the forefront of archiving developments throughout the world, and its impact now extends across national heritage agencies, local government, commercial contract archaeology, and the general public.
