First Bus discount codes

First Bus have confirmed that the price increase is due to the impact of inflation on their costs, as well as a stagnation of prices for over 5 years. 

Following discussions, we have secured a number of discount codes for staff and students to use when purchasing weekly and monthly tickets, which will ensure fares remain at their current price until our new contract with First begins on 23 September. Unfortunately day tickets cannot be discounted and the new fare will apply. 

Using your discount codes

Step 1: Contact the Travel and Transport team to request a discount code. 

They can be contacted via email on bus-vouchers@york.ac.uk Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. If you plan on purchasing a weekly or monthly ticket on a Saturday or Sunday we would advise you to plan ahead and speak to our team in advance. 

Step 2: Redeem the code on your weekly or monthly ticket. 

Information on redeeming the discount codes can be found on the First website. Please note, discounts are only available until 23 September after which the new increased fares will be applicable to all students and staff.
