Find out about the benefits of choosing a sustainability elective module in 2024/25.

There's still time to choose a sustainability elective module. Here are some of the benefits of taking one of our sustainability-related York Interdisciplinary Modules (YIMs) in 2024/25:

Make a real difference - Our sustainability YIMs are project based, allowing you to apply theory to real-world sustainability challenges. In our Sustainability Clinic module, you’ll work with a partner organisation on a sustainability challenge that matters to them. This means that your project will make a real difference to an organisation!

Collaboration & teamwork - Our YIMs encourage collaboration and teamwork among students from diverse academic backgrounds, which will develop your communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Enhance your CV - Our sustainability YIMs challenge you to think critically and creatively to address sustainability problems, enhancing your problem solving skills which are valuable for your enhancing CV after graduation.

Interdisciplinary skills - By working with students from different disciplines, you’ll develop interdisciplinary skills crucial for addressing complex sustainability issues. This is also a great opportunity to bring your own degree expertise to the conversation!

Networking opportunities - You may have the chance to collaborate with external organisations, experts, and community stakeholders as part of your projects, which provides valuable networking opportunities and potential pathways to future internships or employment.
