The Hive Mind is a collaborative, biodiversity-themed exhibition proposal bringing together the University of York community and their collaborators and supporters across wider networks.

Interdisciplinary work at York crosses the boundaries of science and the arts and humanities to stimulate reflection, strengthen understanding and promote positive change. The Hive Mind idea was prompted by discussions about the power of art and collaboration to provide new perspectives on biodiversity change in the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity Ecoscapes series.

The exhibition will feature hexagonal contributions, each created by different individuals and groups connected to the University in some way, to tell their own story of nature, biodiversity, research and understanding the world in which we live. Together, the honeycomb will create a compelling mosaic of biodiversity to share different perspectives with our community through digital and physical exhibitions in the York region in 2026 and beyond.
