UK (home) tuition fees

The UK government has announced its intention to increase tuition fees from £9,535 to £9,790 for the 2026/27 academic year. We expect this to apply to new, UK (home) undergraduate students starting their studies in September 2026.

This includes those from the Isle of Man, Channel Islands and EU (with settled status).

Check your fee status

Fees apply to all undergraduate courses, including the MB BS Medicine taught through Hull York Medical School.

Increases to the Government fee cap may apply in future academic years. We'll notify you of any increase as soon as we can.

Study abroad and placements

If your course includes a full year away from York, you’ll pay reduced tuition fees for that year. You don't pay tuition fees to the host university if you're studying abroad.

Study abroad year	15% of the full-time fee for that year
Year in industry / placement year (in the UK or abroad)	20% of the full-time fee for that year
Year in industry / placement year (Turing Scheme)	15% of the full-time fee for that year

Funding

You don't have to pay tuition fees upfront. You can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan, as well as a Maintenance Loan to help cover living costs. We also offer scholarships and bursaries to help support your studies.
