UK (home) or international fees? The level of fee that you will be asked to pay depends on whether you're classed as a UK (home) or international student. Check your fee status

Tuition fees: 2024/25

York's tuition fees are £9,250 per year for UK (home) students (including Channel Islands and Isle of Man residents, and EU students with settled status). This applies to all undergraduate courses, including the MB BS Medicine at Hull York Medical School.

Further increases within the Government fee cap will apply in subsequent academic years. We'll notify you of any increase as soon as we can.

Study abroad and placements

If you go on a full-year placement, you’ll pay a reduced tuition fee to York and no tuition fees to the host university. For that year, you’ll pay:

  • Study year abroad: 15% of the full-time fee for that year
  • Year in industry / with placement year in the UK or abroad: 20% of the full-time fee for that year
  • Year in industry / with placement year abroad (Turing scheme only*): 15% of the full-time fee for that year

UK government loans

You don't have to pay your tuition fees upfront – you can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan, as well as a Maintenance Loan to help cover living costs.
