Moving to another country can be a daunting prospect, but with all of our accommodation located on or very near to our compact and safe campus, you’ll soon feel at home in York.

2026/27 applications

Undergraduate and postgraduate accommodation applications for the 2026/27 academic year will open in spring 2026. We'll update our webpages with more details, including the exact opening dates, as soon as they are confirmed.

2025/26 applications

Undergraduates

Accommodation owned, managed or approved by the University is now fully booked for 2025/26 undergraduate entry.

If you still need to arrange accommodation, we recommend exploring options in the private sector. Wherever you live, you'll still become part of one of our eleven college communities, and our Accommodation Team is here to offer advice and support.

Postgraduates

Accommodation applications for postgraduates expecting to join us in the 2025/26 academic year are now closed. If you still need help finding accommodation, please contact us and we'll try our best to help.

Room types and prices

We offer a range of self-catered and catered accommodation options with ensuite and shared bathrooms available. We cannot accommodate flats or blocks for one specific gender - all of our accommodation is mixed-gender.

Colleges

You'll be a member of one of our eleven colleges throughout your time here. As well as being your home if you choose to live on campus, your college is also a built-in community, helping you to make friends and settle into York and the UK.

Let lengths

Our 40- and 44-week undergraduate let lengths cover the full academic year from September until July - including all vacations.

51-week lets are also available to undergraduate and postgraduate students and include accommodation over the summer vacation - which is ideal if you’re planning to stay in the UK between academic years.

Families and couples

We can offer some accommodation to students who want to bring their families or partners to York. You'll be given higher priority in our allocation policy than UK students.
