The Volunteering Team advertises roles on behalf of a wide range of charities and community organisations across York each semester, who are looking for help from students.
You can volunteer with local charities to support a cause you care about, all while getting to know the community you’re studying in and enhancing your CV. It’s also a great way to try out different sectors, to see which career is right for you.

Charity Volunteering is a brokerage service between charities in York and students at the University of York. It is managed by the Student Volunteering Team based in Careers and Placements.
All charities promoted via the scheme have a partnership agreement in place with the University of York. We work with charities to develop roles which will be beneficial for them and the student volunteers. Each year around 600 student volunteers apply to roles with around 50 organisations.
The programme is delivered by the Student Volunteering Team in Careers and Placements.
