Information for staff

Academic and administrative staff are welcome to attend graduation to celebrate the achievements of their students.

Staff who wish to attend

You do not need to order tickets in advance - just bring your valid staff ID and collect a ticket from the Graduation Team on the day. For the January 2026 events they will be available from the information desk in the Exhibition Centre.

Please arrive at Central Hall at least 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

How to dress

It is not compulsory for staff to wear academic dress, but those who do will be invited to join the opening procession into Central Hall. Any staff member who holds a degree can hire academic dress. You will need to order this yourself.

If you have not received any communication from Ede & Ravenscroft relating to staff gowning, please email graduation@york.ac.uk for the Graduation Team to register you.

All staff gowns can be collected from the Bowland Auditorium on the ground floor of the Berrick Saul Building on the day of the ceremony.

Submitting results and theses: January 2026

Please submit your undergraduate results lists and postgraduate taught results lists by Friday 7 November 2025.

Postgraduate researchers need to deposit their final thesis by Thursday 23 October 2025. This allows completion of all processes by the graduation final assessment deadline of Friday 7 November 2025.
