Dr Nancy R Irwin

Dr Nancy R Irwin is a sustainability scientist and social entrepreneur working across conservation, ecohealth and sustainable development.

She holds a PhD in zoology from the University of Queensland, researching the systematics and taxonomy of tube-nosed fruit bats using molecular and morphological methods.

Her career has included field and development work in Papua New Guinea supporting rainforest livelihoods, biodiversity protection and community-based sustainable development. She is Founder and CEO of AmaTerra, a management consultancy focusing on linking science, conservation and economic resilience and founded an NGO in PNG, NuraTerra, to support livelihoods, and capacity building.
