Welcome to the University of York research staff community - a community of more than a thousand staff members participating in and supporting research at York.

Research excellence

The University of York is ranked in the top 10 in the UK for the quality of its research, according to the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The REF is a UK-wide assessment of the quality of research in universities. It first took place in 2014 and 2021. The next exercise is planned for 2029.
