Event details

The 6th Legion arrived in York in AD119 and garrisoned here until the Roman withdrawal in AD 410. Their arrival heralded a time of great change for the city - the rebuilding of the wooden fortress in stone and, in AD 122, the temporary movement of the Legion northwards to help construct Hadrian’s Wall. Come along and handle artefacts and ask questions about this time in Roman history.
