Glass Plate Negatives collection

Around 2000 lantern slides and glass plate negatives.

Originally housed in King’s Manor Library they are now kept in climate controlled conditions in the Rare Books Strongroom in the Raymond Burton Library.

Most are images of architecture and antiquities from Britain, Europe, Egypt, and the Middle East.

The slides may be consulted at the Borthwick Institute for Archives. We've put together a spreadsheet that gives basic information about each slide.

About the collection

The slides were probably part of the collection of the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies.
