Globus

Move, share and manage research data securely across devices, whether it’s on supercomputers, lab clusters, tape archives, public cloud or your laptop. Access all your data — including protected data — from anywhere using your University account and a web browser.

Globus is research cyberinfrastructure, developed and operated as a not-for-profit service by the University of Chicago.

Key features

  • Transfer files: Move data securely and reliably between systems on campus or across the world. Globus supports large transfers, including petabytes of data.
  • Compatible storage: Globus works with Filestores, Viking and Google Drive.
  • Share files with others: Share data with collaborators at the University and external partners, using their email address. Globus manages authentication and access.
  • Automate data handling: Set up simple, recurring transfers with the scheduling tool, and multi-step or conditional workflows at scale with Globus Flows.
  • Develop applications and gateways: Build integrated research data services, applications and workflows, with the open REST APIs and Python SDK.
