About SPSS

About the software

SPSS is used for statistical analysis. The add-on module, SPSS Amos, enables structural equation modelling.

Version

SPSS (and Amos) 24 is installed on all IT Services classroom PCs and is available for all other University and personally owned staff and student PCs; please see the Obtaining the software tab.

Classrooms

SPSS (and Amos) is installed on all IT Services classroom PCs.

It appears under Start | All Programs | Maths & Stats.

Managed office PCs

To install SPSS (and Amos) on office PCs managed by IT Services, follow these steps:

  1. From the Start Menu search for and open Software Center
  2. Locate the software under the Available Software tab
  3. Click on the Install button in the lower right

Unmanaged PCs and home use

All staff and students are able to install SPSS on unmanaged University owned PCs and personally owned devices.

Training

  • The Maths Skills Centre offers training in SPSS, including online guides for everyone, and workshops for postgraduates. For information, visit their VLE site (the link is in Community box at the right of your VLE Home Tab).
