About ABBYY FineReader

ABBYY FineReader PDF is used to view, interact with and edit PDF files. The software allows the conversion of image documents (photos, scans, PDF files) into editable electronic formats. It also enables highly controlled editing of these, such as stripping out the reading fields, changing reading order and merging documents. It also enables you to create screen readable redacted PDF documents. It is commonly used to convert documents into editable and machine-readable formats, to enable use of documents with screen readers.

This software can be used by staff and students. Please note that the ability to print and use editing features, such as form completion and commenting, are dependent on the settings selected when the PDF is created.

ABBYY FineReader is available on IT Services managed PCs and via the Virtual Desktop Service (VDS). For further information, see the Obtaining the software tab.
