There are a number of discounts available for members of the University wanting to buy computer equipment for personal use.
Remember that the decision is yours alone. IT Services does not accept any responsibility with regard to privately purchased equipment. The contract is between you and the supplier.
Staff
Laptop and PCs
Staff members are able to purchase our recommended models for personal use. Please contact our preferred supplier, Stone, directly and they will arrange for card payment.
Apple
Academia are our preferred supplier for Apple products for staff. If you purchase an item from Academia, you will be asked to enter a PO number. This is just a reference for delivery.
In order for you to make personal purchases through the HE framework you will need to set up an account through Apple Store for the HE Framework | Academia Ltd with your University credentials. You will then be able to pay with a personal card.
Students
Laptops and PCs
You can obtain discounts for purchasing laptops and PCs.
- The University has signed up to the Dell Advantage for Student programme.
- Dell offer a pay monthly option via PayPal credit.
- HP student store offers up to 35% discount.
- There are also companies offering student discount via UNiDAYS or TOTUM
Make sure you shop around, and get a range of quotes. You may find it useful to refer to the minimum PC specification for taught students.
