Meet the Enterprise Architecture Team

Your project support and technical experts. We help you navigate the University’s digital landscape and make confident, well-informed technology decisions.

We’re part of IT Services, bringing together expertise in technology, applications, data and business processes. We provide guidance and oversight to ensure technology is used effectively, sustainably and in line with University strategy.

Our goal is to help you make decisions that not only meet your project’s needs but also support the University’s long-term digital direction.

Dan Miller, Lead Technical Architect

When to involve us

Get in touch with the Enterprise Architecture team as early as possible – ideally while you’re still shaping your initial ideas.

The earlier we’re involved, the more value we can add. Please don’t wait until a project is fully planned before speaking to us.

Contact us if you’re:

  • Planning to introduce a new system or service
We’ll help check it’s the right fit and how it connects with what we already have.
  • Reviewing or replacing an existing system
We can advise on the best approach and highlight any dependencies or integration needs.
  • Considering how to share or manage data
We’ll guide you on the most effective and secure options.
  • Looking to integrate or connect systems
We can help identify the right technical approach and potential impacts elsewhere.
  • Designing a new process or service
We’ll work with you to ensure it’s supported by the right technology and data structures.

Why involve us

We’re here to help you deliver projects that are secure, sustainable and aligned with the University’s technology landscape.
By engaging with us early, you’ll:

  • avoid duplication and reduce risk
  • strengthen your proposal before it goes to formal review by the Technical Design Authority (TDA)
  • speed up the TDA review process and increase the likelihood of approval.

How we work with you

Our approach is collaborative. We’re not here to block or delay your ideas – we work alongside you to make them stronger.

We’ll listen to what you’re trying to achieve, help you shape your proposal and guide you through the formal review process.

What we'll do

  • Identify solutions
We have a full view of the University’s systems. We'll help identify existing tools, software and services and assess whether they meet your needs – potentially saving you both time and money. We can also help you explore new systems to find the best fit for your project.
  • Spot risks early
We'll review your plan to identify potential integration, security or data issues – helping you avoid costly problems down the line.
  • Check for compliance
We'll ensure your plan aligns with the University's Architectural Principles, which is essential for sign-off by the Technical Design Authority (TDA).
  • Advise on assessments
We’ll let you know if a computing risk assessment (CRA) or Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) is required to support your proposal, and guide you through the process.

By working with us early, you’ll strengthen your proposal, reduce the risk of delays during formal review, and make the TDA approval much smoother.
