Remembering Sally
Posted on Tuesday 21 July 2026
Sally was a cherished colleague, mentor, and cornerstone of the Nurse Education and Nursing Associate teams whose infectious enthusiasm and dedication transformed the lives of her students and colleagues alike. A deeply passionate educator and fierce advocate for her students, she championed inclusiveness and professional values in every aspect of her work. Sally’s generosity extended well beyond the classroom; she was a remarkably patient and compassionate mentor who invested endless time into guiding new academics, encouraging professional growth, and bringing balanced, intelligent, and down-to-earth perspectives to every discussion.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sally was defined by her unwavering moral compass, extraordinary kindness, and brave spirit. She never hesitated to speak up for what was right or offer a supportive listening ear, leaving a profound and lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. Even in her final weeks, Sally demonstrated remarkable clarity, courage, and selflessness, ensuring her family were cared for while continuing to extend warmth to those around her. Sally’s legacy lives on in the countless nurses she helped shape, the colleagues she inspired to lead with empathy, and the enduring culture of compassion she leaves behind.
We pass the final thoughts to one of Sally’s students -
“Sally was a true role model, someone we all respected immensely because of her deep knowledge, but above all, because she was such a light to all of us. I personally looked up to her and told her many times - ‘If I can be even half the nurse you are today, I will be happy’.”
From the entire Department - our staff and students - we offer our most sincere condolences to Sally's family and remember her so fondly.
