Equipment information

Find out about the type of equipment we offer

When we deliver your equipment, we will give you a five minute technical briefing session: we’ll set up the equipment, explain how to operate it, or demonstrate how the control systems work in any teaching room.

If you require any further information about the equipment below, please get in touch, or check out the AV wiki pages.

Web conferencing

Software conferencing (eg Zoom) is replacing hardware video conferencing systems across campus and we can supply webcams and microphones to facilitate meetings and webinars. Further information can be found on the AV wiki.

Spaces that have been equipped with Zoom Rooms can be searched for using our room information pages.

Microphones

We stock many different types of microphones to cover a broad range of scenarios - for example, microphones for additional presenters, panel sessions or audience Q&A sessions.

Cameras

Our basic HD video cameras will fulfil most needs. If you require a camera with an additional microphone included, you can book one of our advanced camera kits which includes a lapel radio microphone. All camera bookings include a tripod.

PCs and laptops

We have a small amount of supported laptops available. Supported laptops allow you to use your University login details to sign in and access your desktop and files. Unfortunately we cannot supply laptop dongles or slide advancers/‘clickers’.

Projectors and screens

Some spaces on campus may require a projector for your meeting or event. We have small, portable HD projectors which can be set up on request with HDMI and VGA connections.

In some cases (such as exhibition areas), a large LCD screen may be more suitable than a projector. We can supply small numbers of screens from 24” to 65” (diagonal).

PA systems

For use in areas where sound reinforcement is required, such as Ron Cooke Atrium or Spring Lane Building. All of our systems include stands, a wired microphone and necessary cabling.

Visualisers

Some teaching rooms already include a visualiser on the lectern, but we have additional units to cover rooms where one may be required.

MP3 audio recorders

Departments have their own iPod recorders for the purposes of vivas, but we can also supply a different model of audio recorder for general use.
