What is biodiversity?

Biodiversity is the living world around us - the plants, animals, insects, fungi and microorganisms that call our planet home. Every one of these live and work together in ecosystems, maintaining and supporting life on Earth in a delicate balance.

Humans are part of this intricate network, but it can be tricky to connect how our actions impact the very ecosystems we depend on.

About the event

The Biodiversity Collage is a visual, interactive, and accessible workshop that aims to raise awareness around the ecological crisis. It is based on the 2019 IPBES report from the UN. The collaborative workshop invites participants to share their knowledge while making this important scientific report fun and accessible..

During this workshop, you will discover key concepts around biodiversity, the interactions with human activities and the threats caused by its destruction. The activity is open to all but is primarily aimed at adults.

This event is part of York Environment Week, hosted by YorkCliConnect.

YorkCliConnect is a project led by Dr Abi Perrin & Dr Lynda Dunlop of the University of York, in collaboration with Sophia Cheng of With Many Roots. Funded by YESI.
