About Vikki Goddard
Vikki Goddard joined the University of York in 2025.
She has worked in higher education for almost 30 years, including as a Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, Director of Strategic Planning and Director of Faculty Operations.
In 2022 she became an independent consultant advising HE sector clients in areas including Professional Services change and target operating models, student and academic services, and corporate and academic governance.
She has worked with clients including King’s College London, the Institute of Cancer Research, Aston University, Salford University, London Institute of Banking and Finance, Keele University and Staffordshire University, as well as advising companies working with the sector. She is also Managing Consultant for AHEP Consulting, a sector-focused not-for-profit consulting group.
Despite all the challenges of working in the University sector, we are giving students the social and academic tools to make their way in the world, and to make amazing discoveries that make the world a better place.
Vikki Goddard, Chief Academic Services Officer
Before coming to York she was Director of Operations for the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester, the largest faculty of its type in Europe. She previously held the same role in the Faculty of Humanities, and in both cases was responsible for the provision and performance of all Professional Services. She was jointly responsible for the complete redesign and restructure of teaching, learning and student experience services across the University and was Professional Services champion for EDI.
Other previous roles include Registrar and Chief Operating Officer at the University of Salford and Director of Strategic Planning at the University of Liverpool.
Vikki has a long-standing commitment to the continuing development of Professional Services staff and is a Fellow of the Association of Higher Education Professionals, serving as its Chair and a member of its Board of Trustees. She has served on a number of groups for national sector bodies. She was a co-opted member of Lancaster University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and is currently a Governor of Burnley College.
Vikki has two children. She has an allotment, enjoys going to gigs and the theatre and regularly attends a dance fit class.
