Asbestos management

Asbestos can be present in any building constructed up to the year 2000 and if not managed appropriately can pose a risk to health.

To ensure that asbestos risk is effectively managed, Estates Services have a dedicated Asbestos Management Team. In broad terms the team is responsible for:

• Ensuring Compliance with Asbestos Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance. Click here for overview of requirements
• Providing support to Estates Development, Estates Operations and University Departments to ensure that asbestos is appropriately managed;
• Ensuring that all asbestos installations are maintained in a good state of repair
