Central Hall

Central Hall is the distinct centerpiece of campus and where most of our students start and finish their university experience.

It's where we hold our Open Day welcome talks and it's the place where you'll eventually graduate.

This is an open outdoor space and vibrant community hub.

Study facilities

From the Department of Psychology's sleep laboratory to the Department of Music's basement recording studio, we invest in state-of-the-art facilities so that you can have the best possible learning experience.

The Library

Open 362 days of the year, our extensive Library is the perfect place to study, research and read.

As well as the central library, there are specialist libraries at King's Manor and York Minster Library in Dean's Park.

Community on campus

You'll be part of an inclusive, international community here at York, and our support services are here to help you. There are over 200 societies, from astronomy to aerobics and politics to poetry, that you can get involved in and over 65 sports clubs.

Our Students' Union (YUSU), run by a team of elected sabbatical officers, are here to help you share ideas, create change, gain new skills and access support. YUSU also hosts events, including the annual Roses tournament - the largest inter-university sporting competition in Europe.

Social spaces

There are plenty of spots where you can meet people and socialise on campus. Grab a bite to eat with friends in our cafés, restaurants or bars, make use of our sports facilities or enjoy a film at the cinema.

Convenience on campus

You can pick up groceries, have a haircut, use banking services, arrange printing and browse the University gift shop at Market Square.

The Quiet Place is an area of stillness and quiet, where you can relax and reflect.
