Our student-led campus tours are ideal if you want to get a feel for campus. Whether you've visited before, or you'd like to look around for the first time, a tour will give you an insight into life on campus at York.
Forthcoming campus tours
Our next student-led guided tours will be taking place every weekday on:
- Monday 24 July - Friday 28 July
- Monday 31 July - Friday 4 August
- Monday 7 August - Friday 11 August
The tour starts on Campus West at 1pm with an optional tour of Campus East at 2pm.
Booking will open on 3 July.
If you can't attend one of our campus tours you could take a self-guided tour instead.
Tours start at The Stables on Main Street.
A current student will lead the tour and share their experiences of studying and living in York. They'll show you some of our colleges, the library, cafés, bars, shops, sports facilities, Information Centre and Students' Union. Tours usually include a visit to a study bedroom, so you can get an idea of campus accommodation.
No doubt you'll also encounter some of our resident ducks and geese along the way on our huge campus lake!
After the main tour you can also take a guided walk around the new buildings on Campus East, where York Sport Village and the departments of Computer Science, Law, Management and Theatre, Film and Television are based. Your guide will mention points of interest as you wander around rather than giving a tour of inside these buildings.
It takes about 15 minutes on foot to travel between Campus East and West, or you can catch the free bus.
What's not included?
Tours of academic departments aren't included on the campus tours. Some departments may be able to give a tour upon request. Please contact the department directly or see other ways to visit.
If you'd like to explore campus for yourself, everything you need to know is in our campus tour booklet.
Please note that academic departments are unlikely to be able to offer tours inside the buildings due to teaching commitments.
Undergraduate offer holders
If you receive an offer from us, we'll invite you to a visit day in the spring, so you can get to know us better.
If you can't make it to a scheduled tour, we'll try our best to organise a campus tour for you. Contact our international team with details of when you'd like to visit us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
