On top of our teaching, you'll also have a whole host of resources to cover all your learning needs.

As a student here, you'll also have access to other libraries in the city, including York Minster Library, the country's largest cathedral library.

Spaces to think, to work, to create

Our main Uni library is home to over a million books and other resources. It's also where you'll find:

  • creativity labs, with equipment and free training from industry experts (VR, 3D design, podcasting, 360 filming, and a whole heap more)
  • the Borthwick Institute for Archives, one of the largest historical archives of any university in the UK
  • a cafe and kitchen to keep you energised, and plenty of study areas for solo or group work.

Stay connected

Laptop loans. Campus computers. Lecture recordings. Extensive IT support. Remote access to apps, files and course materials. Free wifi across campus and the city. A Virtual Learning Environment to chat with students and staff.

It's all here to make studying as easy as it can be.

Grow at your own pace

If you ever want to strengthen a skill or three, our Academic Skills Community runs informal workshops throughout the year, and are always on hand for one-to-one advice. They cover all sorts:

  • Maths and writing: Get personalised guidance and study coaching at the Maths Skills Centre and Writing Centre.
  • Digital: Get the most out of the software packages you're using at uni with our guides or Digital Wednesdays training sessions.
  • Communication: Build your confidence in presenting, collaborating, speaking and listening through workshops.
  • Academic integrity: Learn how to follow good academic practice and avoid plagiarism in your reading and writing.
