York is offering scholarships to international postgraduate students to help them excel.

Our scholarships are awarded to international students to support them in achieving their goals at the University of York. 

We will begin awarding this scholarship shortly. When this scholarship starts being awarded, all eligible postgraduate taught students holding an offer at York will receive this scholarship automatically. You will not need to formally apply for the scholarship.

Eligibility

Open to students from USA, Canada, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Türkiye, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Egypt.

To be eligible for a Global Impact Masters Scholarship, you must
  • have a conditional or unconditional offer to study at the University of York by 31 August 2026
  • be paying fees at the overseas fee rate (any fee assessments must be completed by 31 August 2026) 
  • intend to study a full-time postgraduate taught course
You will not be eligible if
  • you hold a 100% tuition fee scholarship or are fully sponsored
  • you are a partnership student coming to study at York on an approved partnership agreement.
Students on the following pathways are not eligible for these scholarships
  • Hull York Medical School
  • MSc Nursing (Mental Health) and MSc Nursing (Adult)
  • International Pathway College
  • Distance and online learning courses
  • Part-time courses
  • Partnership and exchange students (including visiting students)
  • Kaplan International College London
  • MA Public Policy (Mundus MAPP)
  • LLM Professional Legal Practice (SQE1 and SQE2)
  • Postgraduate Research courses
  • PGCert courses

Please note, we may need to exclude other courses and pathways later in the academic year. 

Scholarship amounts

Students who are domiciled in or nationals of the USA or Canada are eligible for a scholarship of £5,000.

Students who are domiciled in or nationals of India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Brazil or Türkiye are eligible for a scholarship of £6,000.

Students who are domiciled in or nationals of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, or Egypt are eligible for a scholarship of £8,000.

How to apply

We will begin awarding this scholarship shortly. When this scholarship starts being awarded, all eligible postgraduate taught students holding an offer at York will receive this scholarship.

You will not need to formally apply for the scholarship.

Terms and conditions
When you receive your scholarship letter, you must
  • accept the scholarship offer by using the link provided within the offer letter
  • accept your offer of admission from York
  • if applicable, pay a tuition fee deposit by the date specified in your offer letter. Learn more about the tuition fee deposit.

These actions must be completed by the deadline provided in your offer email.

Please refer to your scholarship award letter for full terms and conditions.

If you have been informed that you require a credibility interview, your scholarship will be conditional on the successful outcome of this interview. Should you be unsuccessful, the scholarship offer will be rescinded.

If you defer your place at the University of York, you cannot keep your scholarship.

Combining scholarships

Global Impact Masters scholarships may be combined with other University of York scholarships as long as this does not exceed 100% of your tuition fees.

Global Impact Masters scholarships may be combined with external funding as long as this does not exceed 100% of your tuition fees.

You can only be eligible for a maximum of one Global Impact Masters Scholarship. Where you are national and domicile of more than one eligible country, we will use your current country of domicile to assess your eligibility and award amount.

The University reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship offer to new applicants and offer holders at any time, so early application is advised.
