Visiting students: undergraduate applications

Start your application for 2025/26

Our application system for Visiting Students will be closed from 4pm on Monday 7 April 2025 until 10am on Friday 11 April 2025 due to a systems upgrade. You will not be able to access your application during this time.

Year and Semester dates and application deadlines

Full-year: 15 September 2025 to 5 June 2026
Semester 1: 15 September 2025 to 30 January 2026

Application guidance

Create an account

You will need to create an account to start the application process and set yourself up as a new user. We'll then send you a confirmation email with your login details.

Completing the application form

The application form is divided into manageable sections, allowing you to fill it out at your own pace. You can begin your application, save your progress, and complete it at a later time. Please note that dates should be entered in the UK format (DD/MM/YYYY).

List your department

In your application, please state the departments you wish to study in at York. Please put the main department you wish to study in as 'Department 1'.

If you wish to study with us for a single semester, you can study in two departments. If you are applying to study for a full academic year, you may study in up to three departments. Two in the first semester, adding a third in the second semester.

Upload your supporting documents

You will need to provide the following documents:

Please ensure all necessary documents are uploaded for your application to be processed. Documents not in English must be accompanied by certified translations, along with the originals. See departmental requirements for more details.

Submitting

Once you've completed the application, please save and submit. The admissions team cannot access an application until it has been submitted.

Once you've submitted your application, you will receive a submission email. You should get a response to your application within a couple of weeks. Remember, applications are not processed until all the necessary documentation has been received.

If your application is accepted, you will receive a ‘Welcome’ email asking you to log in to your You@York account, where you can view your offer letter.

Third party applications

We will also consider applications through third party providers. If you are an adviser submitting the application on a student's behalf, you must enter your email address in the 'New User' section of the application.
