Consultation on the current semester structure at York
Posted on Monday 4 August 2025
The University of York introduced semesters in 2023. The aim was to better balance the demands of teaching and assessment for both students and staff. By aligning dates across the institution and with other universities, it also allowed for more opportunities for interdisciplinary study, as well as studying or working abroad.
After two years, we want to review the current semesterisation structure to see how it is working for staff and students at York. We want to consider the impact it has on workload, learning engagement, wellbeing, and progression to see if there are any areas for development.
So how is the semester structure working for you?
Please give us your feedback by completing our semester consultation survey
Consultation deadline: Monday 18 August 2025
