Whether you're planning to move into private accommodation next year or already living in it, we're here to support you.

We offer a range of free services to support you with private accommodation, including contract checking, drop-in sessions, Flatmate Finder events, college talks, and a Housing Fair. No bookings are required – just drop in.

Contract Checking

Get expert advice on your rights and responsibilities before you sign a contract. Join us weekly from 2pm to 4pm at the Baroness Hale Law School Clinic for contract checking with our Student Housing Adviser and volunteer law students.

We can also help you understand your rights and responsibilities in your current contract, and discuss any issues you might be facing.

Drop-in sessions

Have questions or concerns about private housing? Whether you're house-hunting for next year or already renting, drop in to our weekly session with the Student Housing Adviser for friendly, practical support.

Flatmate Finder Events

Looking for a flatmate for next year or think you'll have a spare room to fill? Come to our Flatmate Finder event and connect with other students who are also searching for housemates.

College Talks

Our Student Housing Adviser will visit your college to deliver helpful talks on private housing, alongside college staff and mentors who’ve been through the process. Can't make your college talk? Don’t worry – the same presentation will be available at the Housing Fair.

Housing Fair

Join us on Friday 14 November, from 10am to 4pm in the Spring Lane Building, to meet housing providers and explore your options for next year.

For any questions on any of the sessions, contact student-hub@york.ac.uk. We look forward to seeing you at our events.
