Get involved in York Pride 2022!

Posted on 12 April 2022

Run an activity, welcome festival-goers and be a part of this year’s York Pride.

As in previous (pre-Covid) years, all staff and students are invited to join in hosting a stall at the Knavesmire for this year's York Pride event on Saturday 18 June.

You are welcome to contribute in any way you can. Contributions can take several forms including:

  • Running or supporting an interactive activity (this doesn't need to be specifically LGBT+ themed!)
  • Providing leaflets, posters, banners (or anything really) to represent your department's support of the LGBT+ community
  • Welcoming festival-goers to our University stall (a schedule will be in place so you have time to enjoy the event).

Everyone from the LGBT+ community, including friends and allies, are welcome.

To give you an idea of what will likely be on offer, the Physics department usually provides some 'diffraction glasses' which people can wear in order to see rainbows all around, and a meteorite older than the Earth which people can hold and talk about.  It's more about having a presence than being specifically educational but if we can do both, why not?

To contribute or for further details, including help with transporting materials on the day, please contact Chris Murphy by Tuesday 3 May.
