Mentoring scheme for postgraduate researchers: Applying

Joining as a mentor

The scheme is open for prospective mentors who are likely to be postdoctoral researchers. Successful applicants will undertake online training for the role in order to join the postgraduate researchers mentor pool.

Once a member of the postgraduate researchers mentor pool, mentors are contacted at the start of the biannual mentoring round to confirm their availability.

Joining as a mentee

Mentees are invited to apply for a mentor at two points in the year:

• In and around May, for a mentoring relationship which runs from July to December
• In and around November, for a mentoring relationship which runs from January to June

The PGR mentoring scheme is open for applications from Tuesday 5 to Friday 29 May 2026. This is for mentoring relationships running from July - December 2026.

Mentee applications must be submitted by 5pm, Friday 29 May 2026.
