ETL co-hosted a multi-stakeholder workshop that explored the participation of stakeholders in the design and deployment of sensors for environmental monitoring.

Funded by the Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) and in partnership with the York Environmental Sustainability Institute, ETL co-hosted a multi-stakeholder workshop (University of York, 25th November 2025) that aimed to develop a practical approach for embedding stakeholder engagement into the design, testing and deployment of environmental sensors that seek to evaluate and ultimately secure ecosystem resilience.

Attended by representatives from the water industry, fisher groups, policy makers, regulators, academia, and industry, the workshop revealed the importance of focussing innovation not simply on the technical performance of sensors but on the outcomes (expected/ unexpected, desirable/ undesirable) they deliver in a particular context. A report detailing the outcomes and recommendations from the workshop has been provided to ARIA to inform the direction of their Engineering Ecosystems Resilience opportunity space.
