A curator talk with Dr Connie Wan, Curator of Pop Art at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, will take place at the University of York’s Norman Rea Gallery on Monday 23 February.

Dr Wan originally graduated in Graphic Design before pursuing a Masters and PhD in History of Art, and has been a curator for the past eight years. Working with contemporary craft and fine art collections spanning the eighteenth to the twentieth century, her current research explores the idea of Pop Art beyond Britain and America, especially in Europe.

The evening will be a unique opportunity for anyone interested in Pop Art, and what curating this medium of art entails. A Q&A session and free drinks reception will follow the talk.

Svetlana Leu, Director of Press and Publicity at the Norman Rea Gallery and a second year undergraduate in History of Art, said:  "We're thrilled to have Dr Connie Wan, Pop Art Curator at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, as our first guest speaker from outside of the York area. She has been involved in unique projects during her career as a curator and we can't wait to learn more about them."

The Norman Rea Gallery is run entirely by students at the University of York. Situated above The Courtyard in Derwent College, the gallery hosts exhibitions throughout the year and promotes the work of both student and professional artists. The gallery hosts three exhibitions a term with lectures, seminars and events.
