Royal Society PhD Studentship (4 Years) in Representation Theory available at the University of York

Applications are invited for a four-year PhD studentship in the Department of Mathematics at the University of York, funded by The Royal Society.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr Haralampos Geranios on open problems in the modular representation theory of algebraic groups and related objects including Schur and Hecke algebras. For enquiries about the project please write to

The ideal candidate will have a first degree in mathematics and some experience on topics in representation theory. Outstanding candidates without such experience are also encouraged to apply. A stipend of £15,009 p.a. is offered, PhD fees are covered and additional funding for conference attendance and research visits is available. The studentship would begin on the 1st October 2019.
