Gender Equality


Our Athena Swan work and commitment is integrated into our Equalities and Good Practice Committee, whose remit is to consider all equality and diversity related matters, whether of gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, disability or other characteristics.The Department of Mathematics is committed to the
Athena Swan Charter, an initiative set up to advance women's careers in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Mathematics). The department currently holds a Bronze Athena Swan Award.

Other useful information

  • Piscopia - is a UK-wide network of women and non-binary undergraduate/MSc students, PhD students, and researchers in Mathematics and related disciplines. The University of York have their own Committee run by two of the PhD students in the Mathematics Department. To find out more visit the University of York Piscopia webpage.
