We are a scholarly community with a diverse range of interests. The group inhabits an intellectually plural space characterised by inter-disciplinary, heterodox and critical approaches to research and learning.
We embrace a broad range of qualitative and quantitative approaches including ethnography, archival research, data mining, survey, interview, observation and creative methods incorporating drawing, art, photography, poetry, film, music and sound.

Impact and engagement
We work with a broad range of national and international stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Our research has informed the work of international corporations, charities, government departments, local communities and individual workers. This includes the English NHS, World Health Organisation, CIPD, Diageo, Hewlett Packard, European Space Agency, Samaritans, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and the World Bank.
We contribute to teaching across the School, covering undergraduate, masters, online, PhD and executive education. We are committed to providing the very best educational experiences through research-led learning that is based on innovative methods and scholarly interest. We make key contributions to:
