News

Posted on Monday 26 October 2026

The refurbishment of the Library is now complete, and this means the main entrance and exit access returns to normal this week. The temporary Fairhurst entrance will be closed.

To celebrate this and the 60th birthday of the Morrell Library this month, there will be a give-away of some exciting library merch all morning, just inside the entrance, including laptop stickers, postcards and bookmarks featuring the original 60s plans of the Library… Do come along and grab some free stuff on the 27th!

The new Lounge area is already very popular as a space to relax, study, eat and drink; come and have a look if you haven't already.

IMPORTANT: Unicard needed after 7pm. You will need your University card to enter the Library from 7pm onwards. Please note that temporary cards and the MyUoY app cannot be used for access at this time, so make sure you bring your physical Unicard with you! If you’ve lost your Unicard you can go to the Information Centre which is open until 11pm.
