Continuing Professional Development workshop for English Language A-level teachers

The Department of Language and Linguistic Science is pleased to announce that we are offering a free CPD workshop for English Language A-level teachers on Friday 5 July 2019 from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the University of York.

The workshop is designed to transform research findings into teaching materials and deliver these directly to English Language A-level teachers who can adapt them for their classes. The workshop includes presentations by Carmen LlamasKobin Kendrick and Ellie Rye from our department, and Dan Clayton from the EngLangBlog as well as Catherine Laing from University of Cardiff. The topics to be covered include conversation analysis, a new test for measuring language attitudes, the Scandinavian roots of English place-names, and onomatopoeia in child-directed speech.
