The Department of Language and Linguistic Science will host the German Language Association (GLA) annual conference on 18 September 2026. The conference theme is "Revisiting culture and language integrated education".

Dr Nils Bernstein from the University of Hamburg will deliver the opening keynote.

The GLA serves as a platform for educators teaching German language across higher education in the UK and Ireland, promoting professional development and networking opportunities. Thomas Jochum-Critchley, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Language and Linguistic Science, serves on the GLA executive committee as Treasurer.

Registration costs £10 for GLA members and £25 for non-members: register for the conference. The main conference will be held in Alcuin East Wing 003 on the University of York Campus West.
