LLS Colloquium: Wait what?! An emerging change in spoken English (with evidence from York 1997-2018)
On Thursday 1st December 2022, Sali Tagliamonte (University of Toronto) will be presenting on "An emerging change in spoken English (with evidence from York 1997-2018)".
This event is organised by the ‘Tertulia de Literatura y Cine’ series run by María Muradás-Taylor (Lecturer in Spanish) at the Department of Language and Linguistic Science. During the Tertulia, participants take part in a guided discussion in Spanish about social, historical and political aspects of the Spanish speaking world through literature and films, with the occasional guest speaker.

This month,Tertulia has the honour of having Carolina Baltan Salazar talking about the Truth Commission in Colombia. She will be having an informal conversation about the peace accord signed in Colombia in 2016 between the Colombian Government and FARC, the creation of the Truth Commission and the construction of a historical memory in Colombia.
On Wednesday 26th October 2022, the Department will screen the British/Colombian 10-minute British Film Institute (BFI)-selected short film, SANTI, followed by a discussion with its Writer/Director Harry Richards.
