MyUoY app

Project overview 

MyUoY is a mobile app specifically developed to support everyday life for York students with features designed to cut through complexity so students are able to focus more of their time on living and learning.

MyUoY helps speed up daily tasks for students and includes: a personalised scheduled timetable, digital library and loyalty cards and interactive maps and navigation (map, Campus Explore) as well as a range of other handy features.

Student insight and input is key to developing MyUoY. As the app continues to grow, the needs of our student community and the University's wider objectives will shape what is designed and built.

The MyUoY team regularly seeks student feedback on the app and its features to gauge student satisfaction and experience.  Furthermore, students can now submit feedback directly in MyUoY via its feedback feature (and while the product is in their hands!)

When? 

MyUoY was first launched to students in 2020 and then redesigned and relaunched in September 2023. Since then, the MyUoY team has worked to both improve existing features and introduce new ones to improve life on campus for students.

These have included:

Student checklists (Sept 2025) - partnering with the Communications team to create interactive checklists supporting new students in adjusting to University life

Digital loyalty cards (Feb 2025) - partnering with Commercial Services to make it more convenient and sustainable to collect loyalty points across our Eat and Drink venues.

Campus Explore - specifically responding to student and strategic needs around campus space and navigation this feature was released in Feb 2024, and subsequently extended into Sports, Shops, Colleges and Support Services. The team is continuing to build on and improve this feature.

MyUoY has multiple other features (see Benefits) which are regularly used by our student community.

Where?

The MyUoY app is available to download for all students and members of University staff with a smartphone or tablet.

Why?

The app has been developed to help create a more seamless experience for students by providing everything they need for a day on campus in one place.  

Benefits 

The MyUoY app provides students with the ability to: 

• View their personalised academic timetable with details of lectures, seminars and other teaching activities up to two months ahead and one month back  and an impactful new calendar view.
  
• Use handy interactive checklists to track what they need to do when joining us and settling in.
• Earn and spend loyalty points in campus Eat and Drink venues
• Access the Library and take books out with a virtual library card. 
• View borrowed books and other items, track due dates and know when to return. 
• Find student support services, Eat & Drink venues, sports facilities and shops available across campus with the Campus Explore feature. Once students select a venue, information such as location and opening hours will be displayed. The ‘Nearest to me’ filter means students can also sort all venues by those closest to them.
• Use the Campus Map function to find buildings across campus. This includes the ability to filter to find nearby amenities, eg shops, bus stops, babychange facilities.
• Browse social events, career development workshops, college events and academic training sessions and then sign up and/or add the events to their schedule. 
• Locate available study spaces across campus for either focused individual study or collaborative group work and book a study space in the Library.
