The three minute thesis (3MT®) competition challenges PhD candidates to articulate the importance of their research to a non-specialist audience in 3 minutes. The process of condensing research enhances canditates communication and presentation skills and forces them to think about what, why, and how they are conducting their research. As such there is real educational benefit for competitors. The selected finalists are receiving training and the three winners will also receieve prizes and the opportunity to present at the York Graduate School Induction in September 2019.
The event is part of York Festival of Ideas and will be hosted by Greg Dyke. It will take place 6pm to 7.15pm in the Tempest Anderson Hall, Yorkshire Museum. If you would like to join the audience on 11 June 2019 and show your support you can reserve a free ticket.
